Appointed in March 2005 to implement a Scottish Executive licence for work affecting bats at one of the most important bat sites in Scotland, with breeding roosts of Daubenton’s, Natterer’s, and Soprano pipistrelle all identified.
Mitigation:
- Identifying roost locations via twice-monthly surveys during each summer of the c 5 year construction period
- Working closely with construction teams to implement measures ensuring that bats are not harmed during works, including physically excluding bats from key roost sites prior to remedial works
- Providing replacement roost sites including new loft spaces and a specially-designed, exterior wall-mounted, heated bat box
