AMA are responsible for implementing a Scottish Governemtn licence for work affecting bats at one of the most important bat sites in Scotland, Fort Augustus Abbey, with breeding roosts of Daubenton’s, Natterer’s, and Soprano pipistrelle all identified.
AMA are working closely with the developer and the Scottish Government to deliver the follwoing mitigation:
- Identifying roost locations via monthly surveys during each summer of the c 5 year construction period
- Working closely with the developer's construction teams to implement measures ensuring that bats are not harmed during works, including physically excluding bats from key roost sites prior to remedial works
- Providing replacement roost sites including new loft spaces and a specially-designed, exterior wall-mounted, heated bat box
