AMA's Dr James Cook cycles 100 miles for charity

On Saturday 28th June, The intrepid Dr James Cook, one of the senior team at AMA's Exeter office, donned his lycra padded shorts (not his usual weekend attire!) and set off on the 2009 Dartmoor Classic Cyclosportive (a 104 mile road cycling event across Dartmoor) in order to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society (www.parkinsons.org.uk); a charity dedicated to supporting all people with Parkinson's.

9 hours 46 minutes, quite a few big hills (one or two too many perhaps), one puncture, several mm of rain and a lot of bananas later and James crossed the finish line.  With 828 riders ahead of him, James said after the race that he won't be giving up ecology for a professional cycling career just yet! However, having raised over £445 for charity and had an extraordinary (if slightly painful) experience in the process, he claims it was well worth it and he extends a big thank you to everyone who sponsored him.
